Has Texas Tech Quietly Stopped Killing Cats?
For more than 20 years, Odessa Animal Control in Odessa, Texas, has been selling cats to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC)
for use in cruel medical training exercises. In the exercises, hard plastic tubes are repeatedly forced down cats’ throats and needles are stabbed into their chests; the animals are then killed.
But this year in the wake of an aggressive PETA campaign to urge the university to replace the use of cats with modern, human-like simulators Odessa Animal Control says that TTUHSC has not yet asked it for cats, and PETA has also learned that TTUHSC has not used any cats for its training courses.
Has TTUHSC quietly stopped killing cats?
