Firefox vs. Flash Player

Seemingly unrelated topcis can be put in the same basket. Going green and new technologies, especially software, which is in a sense, green, can be greener or more pollutant. How?

Well, anyone who is a bit programming freak, as am I, can tell you that there are good and bad algorithms. Good algorithms save our time, use less space, less memory and less power. Mozilla Firefox was a good peace of software. But with the new releases, it went south.

It takes for ages to load, it consumes a lot of power and resources, and with the introduction of windows 7 (security) and “new tab” features, Internet Explorer, went from being bad to being better than the Firefox.

But for some, God knows why, reason. I installed Firefox, too. And, unlike for Mozilla, and like all the Microsoft software, its buggy. Thousands of people on the web are begging for help. Neither IE8 or the new FF come along with flash player. And, in this day in age, even the simplest of sites, have some kind of flash installed. But, for IE8 there is no problem, you just have to go to the Adobe’s page and install it. It’s simple as that.

It’s simple for the people who use IE8, that is! Because if You use FF, you do not have simple installation on your hand. The “How To” guide on the Adobes page doesn’t resemble to the actual problem You might have.

But, no fear, the answer is here.

The thing that is making  all the headache is called “Allowed sites”.

You can find it if you click Tools – Options – Security – Exceptions and then you add adobe.com to your “Allowed sites” list.

After that, you again visit the Adobes site and you actually follow the instructions. Enjoy!
