First solar eclipse in the 21st century will appear on May 20, 2012.
This phenomenon was last seen on May 10, 1994.
It is also called annular solar eclipse or the Ring of Fire. Name comes from an image that Sun makes when it is blocked by the Moon. Because of the Moon’s smaller diameter Sun looks like an annulus (ring).
It will be seen near sunset over the course of three-and-a-half hours from Southeast Asia to Greenland.
